Relive the tension of 11 July 1963 at Liliesleaf Farm; learn about events that occurred in Soweto that were pivotal in the struggle against apartheid at the Apartheid Museum; or visit Constitution Hill, which highlights the remarkable history of South Africa Law and the road to democracy.
For nature and outdoors lovers, there are more than enough to explore as the province boasts an array of reserves, parks and lodges. Adventure tourism opportunities also galore. Don’t miss one of Gauteng’s top tourist attraction, the Lion and Safari Park situated in Broederstroom; the national botanical gardens in Pretoria and Johannesburg; Dinokeng Game Reserve, north of Pretoria; the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa; to name but a few. Some 40 km outside of Pretoria one finds the Tswaing Crater; an impact crater left by a meteorite that hit the Earth more than 200 000 years ago.
